Review on BH-1000 Octopus CoralVue Technology Aquarium Filter with External 1000 Pump, Ideal for 100-Gallon Tanks by Jenny Smith

I was skeptical because of the negative reviews but bought it anyway. I really like this HOB protein skimmer. The instructions were almost useless, but since this wasn't my first HOB protein skimmer I didn't have much trouble building it. I've had it for a little over a month and it didn't overflow (even after turning it off and restarting). Sometimes the pump hums loudly. It stops after a few hard presses, but that worries me. I hope it will not become worse. It slides as expected. My previous HOB protein skimmer was installed with a pump in the aquarium. Although it worked well, I hated the way it looked in my aquarium. With this HOB protein skimmer, the pump is on the outside and the inlet and outlet are hardly visible in the aquarium. I would definitely buy this again.
