The first thing I did when I received this unit was take it apart. I'm always cautious with these types of devices, so I like to make sure they don't try to kill me or burn my house down if I turn them on. Pros: Surprisingly high quality panel and driver. The case is also high quality, the lens is made of thick glass. There are also good seals all over the device to keep it waterproof. Cons: The LED driver is wrapped in non-conductive tape and taped to the inside of the case with double-sided tape. It's not good for heat dissipation, but it seems to protect the driver well enough and prevent the driver from shorting to the metal case. For some odd reason, the DC wires connected to the LED matrix are opposite colors. Red is negative, black is positive. The socket is keyed so you can't reverse the polarity, but it doesn't look right. Ugly. The cable is copper-plated aluminum, the conductors are very thin and poorly soldered to the driver board. This is likely to result in a high failure rate of the device. A hot wire fell right off the driver board when I was disassembling the device. Which led me to another shocking issue with this device. Although the cable has a ground pin and the case has a ground screw, the ground wire is not connected to the ground screw. If the hot wire going to the driver board breaks in my device and touches the case, the entire case will charge to 110V and the lack of a ground will shock the next person who touches it. This is a great value for those who know how to solder. I installed a new wire, connected the ground wire and it works great. I ended up buying 2 more devices and swapping the cables on both, all 3 devices work fine.
