I started using SensorPush wireless temperature and humidity sensors in my gun cabinets and it was an absolute revelation. I've been trying different gun hydration options for the past few weeks to see what works and I've been seriously impressed with the results of the GoldenRod in combination with silica gel canisters. For my testing, I used a SensorPush inside the vault and one just outside so I could compare the results. (SensorPush lets you monitor real-time, as well as track weekly and monthly humidity and temperature charts.) My gun safe is 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide, and the 24-inch GoldenRod keeps it 5 degrees warmer at all times than the safe. The humidity is about 7% lower than the humidity outside the vault. This is very important! Interestingly, the silica gel canisters with the gold staff lasted over 3 times longer than before - so that doesn't seem to be the case. The vault can't hold as much moisture as it used to. If you are looking for a good solution to reduce the humidity in your gun cabinet, I highly recommend trying one of these GoldenRods!
