It is difficult to consider such an element, because what it should do only becomes apparent in the future. I had outdoor chair covers that faded from dark black to gray due to UV exposure. They also got a little less flexible so this product seemed like the right fit. It probably would have been better to use if the covers were new but I'll have to wait and see if the fading stops where it is now. The waterproofing seems to be working well as the rain now runs right off the fabric. Whether this will take years or a season remains to be seen. The product doesn't spread as widely as I would like and it took 2 canisters to spray 4 chair covers. It absorbs well into the fabric and I'm glad I ordered two bottles as one wouldn't be enough to cover everything. Easy to use, spray works well, doesn't clog, any amount that gets on hands rinses off easily. I sprayed on the turf, not my deck, as I didn't want the overspray on the deck. Fairly strong odor of the liquid until it dries and no lingering odor after drying. Like I said, time will tell if the benefits last a few years or not.
