The good thing about the container is that it has a screw cap to make it secure. Easy to use, almost no smell. I seem to recall that mink oil has a much stronger odor. After a few minutes I realize my boots are really absorbing this material. I apply a generous amount to it and put it in the sun so it absorbs well. I expect leather to become so soft that it can be easily damaged. I also hope it has good waterproofing. I got some water the other day and it ruined my $25 liners so I'm hoping this mink oil will save my new liners when I get back in the water. Not sure how waterproof it is as I applied it with a rag. After that, I went to the sink to wash the rag with Dawn. The stains I used didn't even repel water before using the soap. I'm afraid it could end badly, but I'll have to wait and see.
