100% ineffective as an alternative to steel wool

I thought this would be a good alternative to steel wool when I was building my guitar which I finished with Keda and Tru-Oil paint. The guitar had to be sanded between finishes and the neck had to be sanded after its last coat had cured as I wanted it (the neck) to have a satin finish. Steel wool is probably the best tool for this job, except it can leave tiny bits of metal in the finish. I didn't want to risk it, so I tried these. Unfortunately, they were 100% ineffective. Sanding Tru-Oil between coats is not necessary, especially after 12 hours of drying. Fine-grit sandpaper or the green side of a kitchen sponge -- or real 0000 steel wool -- will dull the surface almost instantly without much effort, and further sanding will make the surface desirable. But with them I rubbed and cleaned the body of the guitar with all my might, both wet and dry, and it did nothing. They didn't even dull the shine. I ended up using a $1 pack of kitchen sponges (with the green cleaning side) for the body and real steel wool for the neck. (I used steel wool after the last coat was dry so there was no risk of wool fibers getting caught between coats.) Both were very effective. They could be used for any conceivable task, but they have nothing to do with 0000 steel wool.
