Not only did this blanket smell strongly of industrial chemicals, but it didn't feel soft either (despite the fact that the outer part is 100% cotton). I think the reason it doesn't feel soft is because the checkered pattern feels printed which gives it a rough look. As it was for my son I ended up returning it and bought an Eddie Bauer Lewis Plaid Blanket Set, King, Navy. Not only did the EB Lewis Plaid look a lot better, it was chemical-free and felt softer.
