My previous memory foam pillows were many years old and losing their resiliency. I bought these as a reasonably priced/well tested replacement. The first downside is that it has taken them every second in three weeks to get rid of the strong chemical smell and exhaust fumes in the rarely used guest room. I had to keep the door closed to keep the strong smell from waiting in my house. Terrible. I have a headache. When they stopped smelling I figured I'd just return them for the smell. When I finally got to the point where I could use them, they had too much foam and were too hard. It should be a steady lullaby experience. The height in these pillows is so great that I put my head on it - I sleep on my back - and the pillow eventually pushes my head and neck forward until my chin rests against my chest. So uncomfortable! They don't adapt over time. It's a constant struggle to keep your head in a comfortable position on the pillow. I can't understand the reason for the positive reviews that motivated me to try these pillows. In my opinion they are pathetic. The pillow's appearance is its only redeeming quality. It comes with a zip to remove and wash this cover and the case has holes and texture that make it pleasant to the touch. It might be possible to reach into the cushion and remove some of the cut off pieces, but I'd be disappointed if I had to do this for something I paid for because it had to be comfortable and I ended up in an uneven attic would land. Extremely disappointed here. I wish I had never bought them and could get my money back
