Review on 💾 Oyen Digital MiniPro 2.5" SATA to USB-C External Hard Drive/SSD Enclosure (U31M-C25-G): Fast Data Transfer & Reliable Storage Solution by Darius Glatzel

I was really hoping for this unit, from the list they took their time , TRIM, and UASP support, including the chipset used in the device. Makes exploring easier without having to sift through support emails. Although I was a little apprehensive about having an all-metal body when using the design, it felt very comfortable in the hands. No rough edges could possibly cut hands or damage items in pockets for a laptop or camera. The additional DC input seems out of place to me, it's USB 3.1 Gen2 technology if your USB bus is capable of running this device can't support the performance required, then there is no need to buy this device. The fact that the connection to the host is USB-c native, and yet it comes with 2 cables, which is a really good deal I wanted to go with Go startech as these have been my previous purchases but unless you get their case with the cable built in all their host conne actions are micro-b. If you are building a USB 3.1 Gen2 device, why not use your own connector for this technology, adapt the connection to the computer, NOT the case. After all I immediately returned this unit and now making sure I have the data integrity I need to get a new SSD. Shortly after connecting the case with the included cables, I noticed that my speed tests weren't that good. Attempting to transfer files from the case to my computer took several minutes just to download the files. So I ran a hard drive speed test and got around 14MB/s reading! I then tried native USB-C connections on my laptop (HP Zbook Studio G4) and the laptop made a noise when the device was plugged in, but the drive didn't show up. I opened Device Mgr and Disk Mgmt and didn't see the case, but suddenly I smelled a burning odor. I quickly took off the case and of course opened the aluminum case, a strong smell came out. Luckily I was able to put the SSD in my old enclosure (USB 3.0) and my files are there, but I'm not worried that the SSD might be damaged internally, so now I have to look for a replacement SSD. I've heard from people who have hard drives (especially SSDs) when plugging into new cases, this is a first for me. Very sad because I tried 2 other USB-cs that cost less than $17 and while they didn't burn my hard drive, they were extremely unstable when it came to transfer speeds. I may just have to bite the bullet and go with Startech.
