This is a quick review of the Acer Swift 3 (Ryzen 7) laptop. This is not a complete review. It only covers the most important details that caught my eye while using it. Average boot time 7 to 8 seconds to Windows 10 login screen. Average 1 second to black screen, 5 seconds to fan stop (full shutdown). Responsiveness: I have the impression that this laptop is just as fast and responsive. like my desktop PC (HP Pavilion TP-01-0066, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X). Independent tests have given it good marks. https://www.anandtech.com/bench/Notebook/2137 There is nothing to complain about on the display. More than bright enough I had no problem using it in my living room next to a large picture window on a sunny day (but not in direct sunlight). The image is suitable for surfing the Internet and streaming entertainment. The technical weaknesses (low nits, poor contrast and mediocre color reproduction) are known to me, but they don't bother me in practice. Note. I use the screen at 100% brightness all the time, which has a negative impact on battery life. Hinge: Looks well built. Folds open 180 degrees (flat). Not exactly one-handed operation, you need two hands to open it. Keyboard: While most people like the keyboard, I was surprised at how much I didn't like it. I don't like the division. I don't like distances. i don't like the feeling Softness, no tactile or audible feedback. Note. After a few days I got to the point where I can type almost blind, maybe I'll get used to it. Keyboard backlight: As a power saving function, the backlight function is set to turn off automatically after 30 seconds. There's no way to keep it on or change how long it's on. The only choice is to turn the backlight on or off. Touchpad: The touchpad works perfectly. Left click, right click, gestures seem to work fine. Seems to be the right size, not too small. For me there is no problem. (But mostly I use a mouse.) Ports: I love the port selection and take full advantage of it. HDMI is connected to an external monitor. USB 3.1 connected to a 128GB USB flash drive. USB 2.0 is connected to the mouse dongle. Audio jack connected to external speakers. USB-C connected to a 45W charger. USB-C charging: I used the 45W iHome USB charger and it worked the same as the 65W OEM power adapter. Fan noise / overheating: The fan noise is usually not noticeable during the day. Sometimes (e.g. at startup) the fan turns on at a higher speed, with a correspondingly louder fan hum. As far as overheating is concerned, the notebook is comfortably in the "warm" range. No need for an external laptop cooling pad. But then again, I don't do CPU-intensive tasks. Audio: Down-firing speakers are not very loud, loud enough for a coffee shop but I doubt you could hear them on a crowded bus. The sound quality is like a cheap radio. Overall Construction: The laptop is solidly built. Fit details and feel are well executed. I haven't opened it up to inspect the inside, but from the outside everything appears to be well assembled. Runtime: I constantly started the laptop while surfing the web, watching YouTube videos and NetFlix, no games, no CPU intensive tasks. The screen is set to 100% brightness. Trial 1 _ 4:30 hours (from 100% to 10%) Trial 2 _ 4:32 hours (from 100% to 10%) Warranty: I've read the fine print and the warranty is not good.
