So the smooth side of the silk is on the outside of the hood, not the inside and because I bought it to improve the health of my hair, I have I just turned it inside out and it was *perfect*. I stayed without even moving around my head until I decided to take it off and my head and I got hotter. Very impressed with this hat, but I also don't have a lot of hair (superfine, medium, straight waves, almost bra length) and my pillowcase is silk too, so I think it helped the hat stay in place better to stay a cushion kept up with the smoothness.
