So I have a fairly advanced home network (gigabit connection, several mesh networks and devices connected to Wazoo) and during construction the house was connected with category 6 shielded cables. Transponder, I tried it to send a dual video stream from the main multiroom DVR, basically at the recording level to my home theater room. Video over the network seems to be the ideal option at the moment, as the runtime is at least 100 minutes. So here is an "overview" of the OREI 4k extender: when a signal is connected it works fine (video/audio stream quality) but as others have pointed out the signal doesn't just connect. You're constantly having to fiddle with changing sources on your AVR (Marantz SR7013) or rewire RG45 connections. and there is nothing that is the right way to make it work. This is very frustrating and it seems that the signal strength is clearly not enough. The device I received has a DC power connector on both the sending and receiving devices. Have I tried to get the specifications of the PSU 5.5 x 2.1 or 2.5? to see if I can help with signal strength, not knowing if connecting a power supply to the receiving device would help. It would be nice to get mfg support here.
