I bought this brush as a present for my mother. She needed a new hairbrush and said she was particularly concerned about losing some weight as she got older. After speaking to my hairstylist for advice, she recommended a few things this brush has: 1) Each end of the bristles has a little ball on the end. This prevents breakage. 2) The brush is very soft which takes the tension out of your hair. My hairstylist said this is necessary to prevent thinning. If the brush is not padded, it will pull more on your strands. I recently bought some of these for myself after reading that they are great for your hair. My barber agreed they were good but said this type of flat brush was better. So I went ahead and bought it for my mom. My mother loves it and I am very happy with the purchase. At this price I'm glad I got such excellent quality. My only caveat is that since the brush is plastic it cannot be used to blow dry hair.
