Review on 🐠 OASE Indoor Aquatics Biomaster Filter by Karen Washington

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Review updated 20/3/2020

I am using this 250 in a converted reef tank that is now a planted shrimp tank. Here are some observations: 1. Well made, great design and quiet (except for the annoying air bubbles that blow out regularly. I'm not sure what to do about the air bubbles as it's probably a design flaw that won't go away. ). The instruction is ineffective. Thank god for youtube otherwise I would have returned it as a bad block when it isn't. The open and close lever used to remove the chamber will not allow you to rotate it to the open position unless the other lever where you add the inlet and outlet hoses is already in the open position, so try Don't twist it or you might break it. I almost did.3. Love the easy cleaning! This first chamber catches most of the dirt and is so easy to take out and clean weekly! Amazing.4. If the power goes out you don't have to worry about the thing taking premiere, it works the first time, very quietly and with little factor. 5. This (American) model doesn't allow you to install a heater, I personally don't care, but just FYI.6. air bubbles. If you hate blowing air and bubbles, don't buy. In general, I like this article. I don't feel bad giving it 2 stars out of 5 BUT I don't regret the purchase at all and it has made my water crystal clear but it does have some annoying issues that I don't have a solution for yet. You won't be disappointed with the 250. I use it on my 26 gallon and it is adjustable but I feel it fits my battle shrimp setup perfectly. I wish the air bubbles weren't so noticeable. Update 3/20/20: Noises from trapped air in the container are still present but not as strong. The water is also crystal clear. I love this thing but it scares my cats with weird noises. Update 9/22/20: Well today I have a much cheaper rear filter from Revain. This OASE turned out to be a huge waste of money. Unfortunately the pump stopped working efficiently and couldn't draw/pump water at all. I've disassembled it from the top, cleaned everything a few times, changed in and out lines, shortened etc. Luckily Revain sends replacements quickly otherwise my fish could suffer from this flimsy fittings. I went to the Oasis website to try and find a replacement pump but to no avail.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
