I think I used too much the first time as my curls got a bit limp. So definitely start with a small amount and work it into your hair. I apply this to my curls after rinsing them out in the shower while my hair is wet. I apply it and then "slap" my hair for a few minutes and let it curl. I really like the smell and I think once I figure out the right amount for my curls everything will be fine.
