Skin or product accumulation

No doubt they work. They work fine. They're small and shrink, but they work if you manage to squeeze your hand into one. My big question is, does dead skin really flake off or is it buildup of product (conditioner, lotion, etc.)? I ask because there are no "rollers" when exfoliating my legs and forearms. Instead, there are a few white flakes on the glove that appear to be dead skin cells. Nothing rolls, just a little. But when I work the upper arms, back of the shoulders (as far as I can reach), and the back of the thighs, I suddenly get gray rolls right away. It doesn't look like I'm exfoliating other parts of my body. I think what happened is that I use hair conditioner and sometimes hair masks. When I rinse the conditioner off in the shower, it washes off my arms, back, back, or thighs before it's flushed down the drain. I don't think the gray rollers are actually flaking off on my skin, but a film, if you will, from conditioner peeling off the surface of my skin. Has anyone else thought about this? If so, I love that it removes oils from the conditioner as it feels very clean, but I'm skeptical that it's actually leather.
