Both of my girls recently had their ears pierced (9 and 6). They LOVE these earrings and spent the first hour after delivery selecting and swapping out which ones they wanted. In general, they are great for young girls. Highly recommended. Note: We bought these as replacements for ear studs. One of the girls opted for a thicker piercing rod, and there were no problems on the first try. Another girl chose a smaller bar for her piercing. We were still able to put the needle in the ear, but it was a bit bigger and she felt a little uncomfortable for a few days. This doesn't apply to these earrings, just something we noticed and didn't think about when they got their ears pierced.
