Review on πŸš— Trico Universal Windshield Washer Pump (11-100), Black - Easy Installation, Reliable Automotive Replacement by Jason Winkfield

Works well on classic Volkswagens!

Installed on my 1972 VW Bug. The original pneumatic system depended on air pressure from the spare tire to the fluid reservoir, which in turn would push fluid to the wiper control valve on the steering column, then the fluid would flow to the spray nozzle. After 43 years, the long-abandoned system on my machine had rotted and I didn't want to use the original system for two reasons. First, I want my spare tire to stay fully inflated, and second, I don't want the wiper/washer switch to go out and short out my wiring. to aerate the bottle. Got a new spray nozzle and hoses from Bus Depot. The snorkel and spray nozzle are also available here at Revain, but I have ordered other items from Bus Depot. The plumbing was very simple, from the bottle to the pump and then from the pump to the sprayer. I installed a momentary toggle switch on the dash and hooked it up to a circuit marked for radio, which works great since I don't have one. All tees and fittings included in the kit will work with the correct size washer hose for your VW. This pump works better than expected, only VW Beetle owners face a dilemma if you want the washer fluid reservoir in the original place that you can't install. pump underneath. Because my pump is above the spray bottle, the "fill" drains back after each use. A simple solution would be to fit an in-line check valve. For VW Bus and Transporter, this also works in your bus! An added benefit of a bus like my 1974 Westy is the location of the washer fluid tank. You should be able to mount the pump lower and not have to worry about adding a check valve. When I get to the point of installing this on my bus I will add a review to it.
