Dirt in the duvet and it turns pink when you wash it?

I bought a yellow floral blanket and after every wash it turned pink in certain places. I didn't understand why so I placed the blanket against the light and noticed dark spots that actually felt hard inside. I took the seam ripper to one and found dried leaves of plants in it. You know it's pretty gross to me and what happened to the red/pink on it? I washed it myself so nothing bled.
