This is not like the old metallic threads and the texture and color is finer/thinner. Just don't expect it to stand out if you really want a chunkier thread and more dramatic color. This is ideal for more delicate projects and costumes. No big tangles like old school. There are a lot of them - enough for many years and not one unraveled ball. The threads are pulled into a typical groove on the top of the spool, just what you need for this type of yarn. Pleasant shine - nice, thin and smooth to the touch. Washes great too.
