DMC Diamant Metallic Needlework 38 2 Yard Review

I used this to make silver counted stitch wind chimes for my oldest granddaughter's wedding. They are beautiful!

Light silver complements my project perfectly. I know that metallic thread can be problematic to work with, but I find it fairly easy to use as long as I keep the length short and the tension maintained. DMC is a favorite and I was not disappointed with their Diamante floss.

Pretty metallic thread. All metallic threads can be difficult to work with, but DMC threads hold up better. I've used paper embroidery thread on cards, which puts more stress on the thread than fabric embroidery, and have had excellent results. I look forward to using hand embroidery floss on fabric in the future. In the photo for comparison dark and light silver threads.

I drove this around and it was pretty easy to work with. Because it's metal I took my time watching it move, I could feel it flexing in place, quite a bit. It's definitely worth it! The three strands are separate so just use a beading needle or needle threader to thread through to hide the ends as you can't just pinch the end and thread through like regular threads.

This is not like the old metallic threads and the texture and color is finer/thinner. Just don't expect it to stand out if you really want a chunkier thread and more dramatic color. This is ideal for more delicate projects and costumes. No big tangles like old school. There are a lot of them - enough for many years and not one unraveled ball. I bought this silver thread and its gold thread to use with paracord to make beautiful wedding bands for me and my husband who will wear ours instead. I have to say we are both amazed at how beautiful the thread is! It adds just that slight shine we were hoping for.
