These gloves were purchased as a tool to avoid burning your forearms when removing food from the oven and to protect your hands from the heat. They are very heavy and have non-slip palms/fingers, but they are bulky and I have another lighter pair that I prefer, although not rated for such high temperatures. They can't hold the baking sheet securely for more than a few seconds - just like the ones I replaced. If you are looking for very quick thermal protection then these are great. Just don't wait for protection if for some reason you need to linger for a few seconds.
