Review on BARSKA Moisture Absorber Dehumidifier: Effective, Safe, and Versatile for Home Closets, Safes, and Cars - Blue by Melissa Hart

They work great but DO NOT overheat them in the microwave or they will melt!

I have a refrigerator with moisture problems, poor sealing. I first bought 3 of these and they made a huge difference. I used to have water pooling at the bottom of the fridge due to water dripping, but now it's completely dry. I have 6 in my fridge right now because I recently bought 3 more and I think they have a shelf life of about a year or so. After a while, they'll start to take on a bitter smell no matter how many times you dry them. I always knew if I opened the fridge and smelt them that I had to reheat them in the microwave, so I guess that wasn't too bad as it gave me a signal that they were wet other than pink. (which no longer works after several uses). WHAT YOU DO, DO NOT CHANGE the reflection of these things! They will melt and there will be bullets everywhere. In the beginning I learned it the hard way. I make THREE pouches at a time for 4 minutes each side, 8 minutes max, then let dry to remove any remaining moisture. First I put 1 bag in it for 5 minutes and it almost caught fire so be careful! The 3 I make right away really heat up the microwave, so get ready to wipe down the door and walls between each session. They work. Believe me! Microwaving them every week or so is a bit of a hassle, but worth it.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
