Better than expected seems a great price

I've never had a robot vacuum before but I love gadgets and we just moved into a new house so it seems about time. I've considered pricier offerings from Roomba etc but consumer reports and other sites rate this as high or higher than many of the more expensive ones so I decided to give it a try. I'll start with first impressions and update them. the time is running. First Impressions: To be honest the packaging was very good and the materials that everything was made of were surprisingly good. It's like I was expecting a lot more plastic and cheap parts, but it feels like they used really good materials like glass on top, quality magnetic strips, etc. It looks good enough to be left outdoors (which the instructions recommend). ). I've never owned any other brand and can't compare them, but I can't imagine they would be any better. It also comes with everything you need and might not even need, like batteries for the remote, sticky pads for magnetic strips, zip ties for cleaning cables, and a useful brush cleaning tool if you need it (read more on that later). Installation was very easy. Just plug it in, place it on the dock and connect it to the app. Just like other things connected to Wi-Fi. However, I will say that the app is no frills and lacks some basic good UI features. Things like you can't schedule multiple days at once, you have to schedule each day separately. I wouldn't deduct too many points for this as I don't expect much functionality from it and I really don't need to play around with it much so the UI doesn't get in the way too much. I've also had some issues where the app would often say the vacuum wasn't connected, even though I know it has a lot of battery and is next to the router. It only supports 2.4GHz, which is a bit of a shame since most of my devices use 5, so that could be the problem. It's not a big deal since I mostly leave it running automatically, but I think if you weren't home and wanted to start it manually you might run into problems. So far it's looking pretty good. I followed him through the first run and he did a pretty good job, although it doesn't necessarily feel like the smartest thing I've seen. He doesn't follow any particular pattern, but sometimes he'll follow a wall, and when it comes to a pillar, chair leg, or whatever, he'll go all the way around before moving on. He can clean a small part of a room before cleaning up another, so he might not finish the room all at once (at least there is a room mode in Auto mode). It makes me complain, but at the same time it seems to get it all in the end, so I can't say it's missing anything. It will leave zigzag lines on your carpet but it actually looks surprisingly very clean and doesn't bother me. He picked up a TON of stuff on the first few starts. To be honest I had no idea our house was so dirty. It's like we had to empty it every time it worked and I had to rip out a clump of hair which is a bit annoying. The included tool makes the job a lot easier, and the brush slides out easily, so while it's a chore, it makes it as easy as possible for you. After a few runs it started recording less material so I guess it makes sense to let it run every day right? It's weird, sometimes it doesn't feel like it's doing much, but after a few days I came home and was really surprised at how clean it made the house feel. It's like there's something about carpets that look clean that makes the whole house look cleaner. At this point I am amazed. For a lot less money than the other options, I feel like our house is noticeably cleaner without much work on our part. So, first impression: I'm impressed. It's a solid vacuum that has served us well so far. Only a few complaints but it was definitely worth it. Answers to some questions I had before buying: Will it scratch our hardwood floors? No, but it seems if he ran over something that was stuck under him and poisoned him, it could be I think. How long does it take? We have mostly hardwood but some carpets and area rugs. I think we have about an hour although I didn't time it. This part is a bit disappointing. I would be very surprised if you had 100 minutes like they claim. Does it get stuck easily? No, but it will get stuck if you don't take precautions. You have to collect cables and other junk that you usually just leave on the ground. It's fairly powerful and handles most issues, but we've had instances where it got stuck on things we left lying around. Maybe partial cleaning will make it feel cleaner. Can he find his way home? We have a one story house with long corridors, but it still seems to find its way into the back rooms and can find its way back. It takes a long time for him to get home as he's slowing down but I can tell he has a strategy that seems to be working for him. Hope that helps. Would definitely recommend and will update in a few weeks. UPDATE 12/31/18 So we've had Eufy for a while now and I still think it was a great purchase. It might be one of the dumbest robot vacuums out there, but it's still awesome in my opinion. It's mostly just random with a bit of madness, but who cares if you let it run every day so it ends up getting to every place? Sometimes it takes time to get home, but so far for us it's always coming home. if it doesn't stick. I think I said it above, but I'll say it again, you need to change a few things so you don't get stuck. leaving things on the floor? Yufi might get stuck. Do you have a chair with an opening almost as big as Yufi's? When he gets there, he might get stuck. That being said, we're at the point where it doesn't really stick anymore, as it's not hard to keep it from those places, especially with the magnetic strip they give you. I honestly don't know what else to say about that. It's a dumb robot vacuum, but it's pretty damn cheap and works really well. I would probably buy 2 of these before buying the more expensive iRobot or any other brand.
