Review on Honeywell Carmel 48-Inch Ceiling πŸ”… Fan: Remote Control, Reversible Blades, Bronze Finish by Greg Moore

Stay Away or Prepare for Disaster

For reference, I'm a retired Navy electrician and have installed quite a few ceiling fans over the years. This fan started well enough, the assembly is quite easy, and the blades are well designed, so you can attach the metal brackets for the blades in advance, and fix the blades with the brackets after you hang the fan, the easiest fans to assemble. we faced each other. The remote works very well too, no multiple taps to get it working, it's fast and reliable. The fan seemed well balanced and hardly wobbled. That's the only reason this fan gets any stars at all. Trouble is, you won't find out until you've spent an hour or more installing fans depending on your skill level, the noise is unacceptable. At any speed, the fan motor makes a loud and very noticeable noise. I always spin the fan before hanging it to see if there is any noise, and it spins quietly, so only after it's hung, so it must be the noise of the motor itself, which only happens when it's turned on. Very annoying and the noise is so loud, especially in the master bedroom where it's intentional, that it's impossible to ignore or sleep through. And that's not all, the light comes with 2 (not 3 as Revain's description says) bulb LEDs and as soon as you turn on the light another annoying noise rears its ugly head. There is a high pitched sound that is very noticeable every time the light is on. This can happen with LED lamps with inferior internal ballasts, especially with a dimmer like this configuration. So there's a chance that buying good quality LED bulbs can fix this noise, but that's for Honeywell's quality control to figure out, not me. So of course this fan is back and my search for a ceiling fan continues. I hope this helps you all avoid the pain of buying a terrible fan and wasting your time on the stairs like I did.

Pros
  • REMOTE CONTROL: Includes remote control with 3 speed settings, "Smart Sync" for quick adjustments, "Walk Away Light Delay" and dimmer. Controlling a ceiling fan has never been easier
Cons
  • Hard to say
