This Cisco RV160W served as a hardware upgrade from the Cisco RV042G, which unfortunately fell victim to a surge - no, it wasn't connected to a surge protector. The RV Series SMB routers have always offered me reliability and functionality, from my first RV042 over a decade ago, through the aforementioned G variant, to the RV160W. earlier Cisco equipment. The built-in Wi-Fi radios allowed me to ditch the cheap Linksys router I had connected to the RV042G as a wireless access point. Good consolidation - less steering hardware, less power and less navigation software. Wi-Fi is easily controlled via an external hardware switch on the back of the device. On the opposite side is a fixed power button. Both were absent from previous models I've owned. The WiFi signal is quite satisfactory and functional. I didn't experience any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. The flawless hardware combo of Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi, along with built-in software features (NAT, firewall, etc.) make it the best contender. Highly recommended ! Would buy again if needed.
