I bought the set in white and overall they are fantastic. I definitely recommend them. I'm only taking off one star for a small spot of paint peeling that is just off the front edge of one of the coasters so you can see. Which is a bit ironic considering they were individually wrapped in plastic and then additionally packaged in a very nice (but frankly unnecessary) cloth pouch which was probably used to indicate quality. The very protective packaging makes me think the chip was there before they were boxed which is why I gave them one star. Functionally it's 10 stars. Aesthetically they would be the same without this chip. Apart from that little blemish, these are really great coasters. I mean in almost every way. The aluminum is strong and very well made, the padding is evenly and perfectly applied (no offset at all) and save for a chip on mine, the color runs through beautifully. They hold my active monitors with no sign of flexing - just solid. I initially looked at the S2 because they are cheaper, but I'm very glad I got the S4. With my speakers, the S4 are just perfect and definitely worth their money. The angle is also great for me. I bet I could easily trade them in for a chipless set, but I don't have much of a problem getting through there. I just think they better check out the stands (or if they knew the chip was there, don't ship the products like that).
