They fall apart instantly, leaving sharp shards of metal on the ground.

Do not buy. It's just a waste of money. I couldn't use any of them because the moment you try to lengthen them they fall apart leaving those sharp bits of metal all over the house. 5 came in a package and each fell apart on the first expansion.
