I use this controller with my Raspberry Pi. It works very well with the Batocera image. The buttons have a sufficient number of clicks; not spongy at all. The D button is great. I specifically wanted to use a wired controller as the Bluetooth is unstable on my Batocera Pi. This controller exceeded my expectations. It feels as good or even better than my real Xbox controller. Batocera recognizes it as an Xbox controller, so I didn't even have to map buttons.
