I'm sure with these and some ratchet straps you can secure almost anything. I've used them to prop up a tarp, quickly fix fence posts, protect a wildlife camp, have an extra "hand" to lure a tree in the right direction, even something to hold an unburied arbor in place and hold position. I took them out of the ground after 2 years, rubbed them down and they look like new. They don't replace cast-in foundation support posts, of course, but they can come close (depending on the application) and they certainly require 1/100th the effort to get them in place. This applies to the clay soil of Alabama. Obviously they won't do all that much in sand or constantly saturated soil. They may not be the prettiest or most professional solution for most projects, but they're the easiest and fastest, and they can offer a lot more help than $10 and 3 minutes of work sounds like.
