My 6 year old grandson is a bit wary. When his twin brother wanted a two-wheeled version for his sixth birthday, the cautious man needed a little more stability. This device completely filled the account as it rejoiced. It is attractive, colorful and well made. Three differently colored LEDs are integrated in the rear wheels, which are activated and shine brightly when the wheels are turned. Almost ready to use, right out of the box. The handrails are height adjustable. My grandson is probably a bit tall for his height. He can still increase the height of these oars a little; This device can accommodate a much smaller user. Very happy with this purchase. Can't really comment on "durability" as he's only had the scooter for a few weeks, but initially it looks like it should hold up well over time.
