After reading some pretty good reviews of this "quick change softbox" I pulled the trigger and ordered the 48 inch version. You need to assemble the Bowens mount with a screwdriver (NO INSTRUCTIONS) but it was easy enough. If you're having trouble, there's a YouTube video that shows you how to assemble the mount. A padded bag for transporting the softbox when folded is also included. So far, so good. But here's the problem (at least for me). Opening the softbox should be as easy as sliding down the locking mechanism on the stem and it will lock in the open position. The force you need to move it down is a lot more than you think because of the resistance. Also, I felt like I would break it from time to time due to the amount of force I had to muster. But the thing is, it WILL NOT snap, after struggling with it for a few days I found that if I spin all the way down it will snap HALF THE TIME. It's almost like a drill trying to fight to open it. I don't think I can trust this product on set for these reasons and I do NOT recommend this product to other shooters. ALTHOUGH I REALLY WANT TO LOVE THIS PRODUCT.
