Review on TreasLin Capture Passthrough Streaming Recording by Bennie Boss

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well for the price

There are several items on the list that got the same reviews - this is a 'gray' box with 4K pass-through, a mic and Headphone jack and a USB 3.0 port for connecting to a computer. This capture card is a tiny metal box that turns almost any video source into a "USB webcam" for your computer. There is an HDMI input and an HDMI output on one side of the box. Here you can connect the HDMI cable from the game console to the input, and then connect the HDMI cable to your TV or monitor. On the other side of the box is a USB 3.0 port, a 3.5mm microphone jack and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This is where you connect a USB Type-A 3.0 cable to a USB Type-A 3.0 port on your computer (this is the only cable included). The use of microphone and headphones is largely optional. Once you've connected all the cables, you can just plug them into a USB 3.0 port on your computer, let the device drivers load automatically, and you shouldn't have any problems. I used it on Windows 10 and it worked within a minute of connecting. To watch the video, you can just open the Camera app for Windows. If your laptop has a built-in webcam, it will show up first, but there should be a setting to switch to a different camera. Here you can switch to the capture card, so whatever you play on the game console will appear on the screen of the laptop's webcam application. You can probably just click "Record" and it will work. I also used OBS Studio to record gameplay and it worked without any issues, you just have to dive into the input settings to see how the computer is calling the USB capture card as. Performance wise it's good for a card at this price. HDMI output to a TV or monitor usually works without any noticeable lag. If you only use the HDMI input and then just connect a USB 3.0 cable to your computer and play via your webcam or the OBS Studio apps, you will notice a delay of 0.1 to 0.25 seconds. I have a 9th gen i7 processor and have seen this lag. But through HDMI almost does not slow down. It still records smoothly at 1080p 60Hz or 1080p 30Hz, but you'll have a hard time timing jumps in a platform game if you're launching from a computer screen rather than a TV. How much latency your computer has probably depends on the processing speed of your computer and the speed of the USB bus. I didn't test them long, but the mic jack and headphone jack did their job without any noticeable lag. All in all, this game capture card offers excellent value for money. If you only use it for writing, that's great. The microphone jack and headphone jack also make it suitable for streaming. Note, however, that you absolutely must use an HDMI pass-through connection for serious gaming, as there will be some lag when attempting to play directly on your computer screen via a USB 3.0 port.

Cons
