Just pulled out of the closet and dusted. One of the labels shows the date of manufacture - January 2005. I hooked it up to my 2019 updated MacBook Pro and burned a few CDs from iTunes and they all played fine in several of my cars when I tested them. None of my computers have an optical drive anymore, but this old Sony could burn CDs for a car I recently bought with an old sat nav and no extra input. It should be noted that my MacBook did not require drivers for this CD. burner to work. I just plugged it in and it was immediately recognized by the computer and iTunes.
