This product is very well thought out and well made but poorly designed. To install a camera or QR system from the top, you need to remove the top and bottom to install it. If you want to attach the QR plate to the bottom, you have to get creative. I ended up needing extra screws for the 1/4 tripod and some brackets to make it work. It's there, but it was all pain. I would STRONGLY recommend spending the money on a different rail mount base plate as others have said. This one is well made, but there's a real problem with mounting QR systems or even on a tripod without a QR plate. I wouldn't buy it again.
