I just want to express my thoughts on the quality of this item. I couldn't use it because I ordered the wrong item. I would say the quality was fantastic. All metal and very well built.

This is a really great base plate, but the 1/4" and 1/3" screws are very small at the top where the screwdriver inserts the screw into the camera body. As a result, the screw itself can easily be torn off. You may need to replace the screw(s) or buy a new one fairly soon. That flaw aside, this is an excellent base plate for mounting a rig or just a camera body.

This product is very well thought out and well made but poorly designed. To install a camera or QR system from the top, you need to remove the top and bottom to install it. If you want to attach the QR plate to the bottom, you have to get creative. I ended up needing extra screws for the 1/4 tripod and some brackets to make it work. It's there, but it was all pain.
