As a TIG welder, you should think carefully about your raw materials (workpiece) before choosing a specific filler metal. Silicon Bronze is an interesting alternative to other fillers if (and ONLY if) you need it OR to meet specific job requirements. This is probably NOT best for general purposes. However, this product is very well suited for joining dissimilar metals containing copper (copper, bronze, brass) to one another or to steel or for joining coated steel and sheet metal (e.g. galvanized). I especially like this with plate materials where higher thermal processes can cause excessive warping and/or burn through. It should be noted that welding with this material is NOT welding. It's really a form of soldering. The underlying base material usually does NOT melt during the process. It is heated to such an extent that the filler accumulates on the material surface or rolls off and thus bonds with it. However, it can still be a VERY powerful method of joining materials. This material is a good choice when you need it for heavier materials due to the thickness of the wire and your ability to twist multiple strands together to form a thicker fill rod. or some gaps between materials. Using straight from the spool makes it perfect for small or thin projects that require less heat. . I found it very consistent and easy to use. The only drawback is the relatively high cost of the filler. If you need it and the cost can be borne or shared between projects, this works. and work fine. Five stars for a good product, well packaged and easy to use.
