I needed a new iron because my two old fashioned Radio Shack irons weren't up to par. I was rebuilding (done!) a battery pack for a cordless Dremel tool and I just couldn't get the solder to flow onto the battery terminals. This new iron puts out enough heat to get the job done without heating up the battery. Bing bang boom. Someone recommended 370ยฐC for this task and I set the iron to that temperature. Used one of the blunt tips and she licked like a champ. I definitely recommend getting a can of tin for the tips and some 60/40 solder. Iron comes with a roughly 60/40 split, but that's not very good. A little rosin flux is also good to have.
