Review on AlphaSmart Dana Handheld Palm 4 1 by Michael Reese

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The company no longer makes those shiny word processors

Pros: Dana arrived quickly in the right packaging. It's in *better* condition than described: clean screen, all promised accessories included, not the slightest scratch on the bottom! Everything looks great when exploring the Dana's features and the large screen is a joy to use. Cons: There was no bubble wrap around my device. That surprised me. No printed manual or power supply (this is clearly stated in the supplier list). I checked the Renaissance Learning NEO/DANA archives and found I could purchase the correct power cord from Radio Shack. The included software CD wasn't original, but that doesn't bother me. I need to find a non-interfering version of the Palm OS that works with my device; I prefer the old school diary over devices like the Palm. Verdict: The company no longer makes those shiny word processors. All I wanted was a backup for my beloved and trusted NEO in case he died tragically. This DANA has more features than I need (nice). More importantly, it can do everything my NEO can, and that's the point. This seller exceeded my expectations in terms of the condition of the product, quick order fulfillment and good price. I got the impression that they are honest, reliable and competent. Five stars to the seller. The four stars are because the Palm OS inconsistency means I have to search the web. And because bubble wrap is indeed a sensible precautionary measure when transporting equipment.
