Review on KZ AS10 Five Balanced Armature Extra Bass Universal-Fit Earphones In-Ear Headphones (Cyan, No Mic) by Carrie Morris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic monitoring at an unbelievable price.

This is my 4th set of KZ headphones. I had an FTA, then KZ5, KS10, now AC10. Every step was a noticeable improvement in sound. New to the AS10n is the 5-arm design per ear. The KS10 had 4 anchors and 1 dynamic woofer per ear. As soon as you open the box, you'll notice that they're slightly smaller than the KS10, which is probably because the armature takes up less space than a dynamic driver. I suspect it also added some power efficiency because the next notable difference is that they're louder than the KS10. I moved between them, constantly lowering the volume on my iPhone by two steps. I find that the AS10 has a little less bass, however the bass on the AS10 is very present and also softer and more precise. In any case, it's not enough. The barrel sounds fat and powerful. The bass guitar is crisp and articulate. IA/B used a selection of rock and pop music from the 80's and 90's for AS10 and KS10. I felt they were very transparent, non-tiring, and smooth at all transition points. If you already have KS10 I'm not 100% sure I would pay for AS10. This is evolution, not revolution. However, if you have headphones with 2 or 3 speakers, you won't regret switching to the mighty 5. They are quite cheap compared to the "big name" IEMS which cost me a whopping $350. The costs are amazing.

Pros

Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
