Many wonder if the fabric is plush where it sinks or not, it's NOT that soft. I wouldn't say it's hard either. Depends what you prefer. I like it because it stays at the level I need to keep my back from hurting. My old soft foam pillow doesn't fit my new mattress. I wouldn't mind if it was a little less rigid. Some might consider this to be more than average hardness, but if it were, you couldn't overdo it. It will sink over time, so the idea of it supporting part of the upper back works for people with back pain. If you want a sink that feels like gel, this isn't it. It comes with a washable case which I have in another waterproof case so it will last longer and I wash the outer case. The zip on the sleeve it came in can be an issue later on, so the less I close it the better. It's thinner and since it's constructed so you can't see it from the outside, it has a zipper. So when something can get stuck, it can be frustrating to get it right. Save yourself the headache, buy another waterproof cover that you can just zip up so you don't have to take it out to wash. Save yourself that suitcase and you'll really save yourself the headache associated with that zipper. It would be nice if it was the same zipper on the suitcase that I bought. This case should be tight, but the one I have is looser and easier to get in and out of. It's also the best zipper. Not as much comfort as in ahhh compared to my whole back not hurting, that's good. No pain means better sleep. There is definitely support.
