I am using a rhododendron seed germinating product. First, special soil is placed in the Pyrex dish, watered and the lid loosely fitted, then microwaved for 5 minutes in five one-minute warming sessions. This destroys fungus, pest eggs, mosquitoes and small flies and also prevents mold from forming on the seeds. Allow to cool and spread the rhododendron or rare seed over the soil and cover. Place them under grow lights until a cotyledon and a small amount of true leaves appear, then transplant each seedling into a pot.
