Toro/Norelco S9000 Prestige

I am a former Norelco user. I've been shaving this brand for over 20 years but am tired of changing batteries (old tech nickel cadmium batteries) every 2 years. I have used Braun for the last 10 years with good results and have never had to change the battery. I got a Braun Series 9 9 months ago and wasn't happy so I decided to try the Norelco S9000 Prestige. The Braun offers a good (not perfect) shave but is more annoying than the Series 7. I was happy to return to the rotary shaver and Norelco. The S9000 arrived and I was immediately impressed with the craftsmanship, the feel and the obvious quality. . Great little machine. Very quiet and smooth. only one problem In my face it's just a lousy razor. No matter how many circles, how many times I drove over the same area, no matter how long it just didn't cut tight or comfortably. I could shave very quickly, but nowhere near. Whenever I tried to get closer, all I ended up with was a face that looked like it was being dragged down the sidewalk. Gel, pre-shave, dry, whatever. The last day I shaved with this I spent 2 minutes on my face and neck and then spent 3 full minutes on my upper lip alone. It doesn't matter that if I wasn't careful it might have grabbed the front edge of my lip, but in three full minutes of shaving that small area I still couldn't get close. I made sure I had the classic 5 o'clock shadows after the shave. I know you have to try for 21 days, but I would never get that far. Every day I felt worse than the day before. As a comparison I bought a Panasonic Arc5 and it was ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ast closer as that. I sincerely think a cheaper Norelco razor with older blades for lifting and slicing would be better. The trimmer worked well but it wasn't very comfortable to change heads and I doubt its durability. As for cost, $280. For a shaver that doesn't even come with a cleaning/charging station or even a charging stand, that's absurd. Useless markup and very disappointing. I really wanted to like this razor. I'll return it tomorrow.
