I love to point and shoot with a waterproof camera to take family photos in the sand and water on the beach. Places I would never take my iPhone or DSLR to. Based on consumer reports I'm hoping for a longer lifespan than any of my previous choices over the years (Canon D10, Sony model and Nikon AW130). Nikon died much quicker than I had hoped (salt water breakdown on vacation). But all seem to last 2-4 years in relatively harsh conditions (exposure to salt, water and sand). Immediately after the release of things I like. Even with only 12 MP great photos succeed. I never aspired to be as good or better than a DSLR or even an iPhone. Better low light sensitivity than Nikon. Being able to hard-code your two favorite modes is a lot better than having to restart every time you toggle it on and off. I like the kids' activity mode for taking a continuous series of photos. Very easy to use and setting modes. Nikon sometimes got stuck in strange modes. The physical wheel makes it clearer what is going on. I like the physical toggle for turning GPS on and off. That's always a problem with Nikon. Time will tell how hard it is, but we'll see!
