I wouldn't call these compression leggings. They're more like pantyhose. They are more transparent and when I bend over you can definitely see my floral underwear. However, they are thick enough to be worn under a dress or a long shirt that covers the bottom. They're not the most comfortable and a little rough, but maybe they can be washed? I would say they run true to size (I wear 16/18 and bought XXL) but the waistband is a little tight so if you're rounder in that area it might not be for you (I'm more of an hourglass) . They don't want to get taller because then their legs won't fit. You can see in the picture I received a 1/2 foot pair (I bought them for travel and as flip flops). The foot piece is too loose so it doesn't compress anything, but the ankle piece is tight so it still seems to help.
