Useful as a bag for dishes, ladles, tongs, turners and anything else that might be in a drawer or basket. The pot appears to be hand forged, so I assume everyone who orders it will have a unique and slightly different texture and finish. The product description says it's made from heavy gauge steel and then galvanised, and I'm assuming the copper is applied, possibly by electroplating or a plating technique. I tried the magnet test and yes my magnet stuck very well to the antique copper shard which confirms what the product description says is indeed steel and then the shard is copper plated. If it was solid copper it would definitely be more expensive than the Amazon website. It looks and feels very durable and should last a long time on the kitchen counter, backyard grill or wherever you place this pitcher. Cleaning is very easy but you must remember that the copper on the shard is just a coating applied over the zinc and it is not a solid shard of copper. Cleaning it with a scraper is likely to scratch or wear off the coating over time, and it probably wasn't designed to stick in the dishwasher.
