I've spent hours getting this adapter to work. I'm using the latest version of Windows 10 and have a Samsung 970 Evo installed in the adapter. The Samsung driver cannot find the card. Windows does not see the card. Bios does not see the card. The instructions and the StarTech website did not help. After a long search on the internet I came to the conclusion that it is necessary to update the bios on my motherboard. After updating the bios, the adapter worked. I can now boot directly from disk 970. I suggest that StarTech provide more advice on their website for possible problems while using the card and how to solve them. My primary storage was an SSD with a SATA connection, which was pretty fast. The new 970 PCIe x4 drive is even faster, and the Samsung 970 gives me twice the storage of my old SSD for about the same price.
