I bought them based on feedback from a person who liked them for riding. My car has small pedals, and most modern slow-thinkers are either work shoes or thick-soled sneakers. They are closer to slippers and make it much easier to dance on the pedals in city traffic. Yes, they won't last long if you walk in them. I didn't buy them for that. They're designed for driving and shopping, not hiking the Appalachian Trail. They're good for the money.
