I have a 7 gallon tank and don't need an overly large or expensive refill system. I bought one of these to try before my 2 week vacation. I bought a 1 liter bottle of Evian from the supermarket. It would be nice to know if other water bottles work. I haven't read anything about other options. I can't find a 2 liter or even a 1.5 liter bottle of Evian in my area or online without buying a case. I won't do that. This design is very simple and the materials are top notch. It attached firmly to my tank with the adapters that came with it. I had to dry it before peeling the tape off the sticky part of the adapter to make sure I had a good spot. The bottle is reliable, does not tumble and does not come off when pouring water. The flow rate is low, so there is almost no sticking. I followed the advice of others and cut the pipes at a 45 degree angle. You must do this before attaching the Evian bottle so you can adjust both lengths correctly. The shorter pipe should be where you want the water to be. The longer tube can be any length longer than the shorter tube. I made mine about 1 inch longer. Tip: If you have an overflow filter system, you must place it in the part of the aquarium where the fish live. Otherwise, there will be a mess when your filter clogs and the bottle spills its contents into the overflow. I use about 1 liter a week. Since I will be out for 2 weeks, I will buy a second block. When I come back I'll probably keep a unit plugged in as I'm really happy my tank is always at the right level. I think my fish love it too.
