Revainrating 5 out of 5

The Travelstar arrived on time in excellent condition

This hard drive was very easy to install in this old HP laptop, although first removing about 20 screws. (Check your computer's manual as most laptops only require removing a few screws.) I used a small tray to keep track of the tiny screws and to distinguish between the three different types of screws To make things easier, I created a bolt table. I used an external USB hard drive adapter with an old hard drive to transfer files and settings using a Windows program (by that name!). I copied the file to the root folder of the old hard drive before replacing it. After replacing it, I installed the OS from the native hard drive and driver (from HP's site) and did all the OS updates. Then I installed all the other programs I had disks for, like Office, and then all the free programs I got from the internet. (I made a list of all installed programs that I wanted to keep). I was waiting for my antivirus because sometimes it can block some updates. Then I launched Windows File and Transfer Setup and browsed for the file on the external hard drive (which was my old hard drive connected to a USB adapter). It copied everything I needed including my Outlook emails and contacts, my browser settings and favorites and even my background file. When all this turned out to be working, I installed the AV program. It took me a while but saved me a significant amount of money compared to what a computer shop would normally charge for this type of work. And now I have 500 GB instead of 100! Recommended for those who can use a screwdriver and are willing and able to follow detailed instructions.
